Introduction
The development of the Hong Kong school curriculum has advanced into a new phase of ongoing renewal and updating. The English Language Education Key Learning Area (KLA) is an integral part of the school curriculum that provides students with a wide range of learning experiences to enhance their:
The curriculum in CMACCK is to enrich English language learning and teaching through: incorporating the renewed Four Key Tasks; life-wide learning; task-based learning and teaching; learning and teaching of text grammar; e-learning; and embracing learner diversity, including students with special educational needs (SEN) and gifted students.
We also promote teacher assessment literacy through: placing emphasis on both formative and summative assessments; adopting diversified modes of assessment; making effective use of internal and external assessment data; advising teachers to provide quality and timely feedback; extending formative assessment from “assessment for learning” to “assessment as learning”.

School-based Curriculum Outline
To better cater for individual’s needs of English learning, the English Department at CMACCK provides a school-based language arts curriculum for junior forms students as part of our English Curriculum. Students in S.1-S.3 will study 2 novels and 2 films in each academic year.
The curriculum involves Phonics & Reading, Novel Study, Movie Study, Presentation, etc. The literatures include “Billy Elliot”, “English Vinglish”, “Around the World in 80 Days”, “Flowers for Algernon” and “Freedom Writers”, etc.
|
To support “learning outside the classroom”, English lessons are supplemented with various ECA and CCA English-related activities, such as US Navy visits, author visits and visits from overseas schools.
In senior forms, students will study the elective modules such as “popular culture”, “workplace communication” and “social issues”. They will also have to complete 2 SBA, including one individual presentation and one group discussion.
With the integration of eLearning in the English classroom, junior and senior forms students will be provided with different learning activities and experiences.
